Groundsel bush (Baccharis halimifolia) is declared noxious in the Illawarra District Weeds Authority control area (including Kiama, Shellharbour and Wollongong council areas).

“The weed must be eradicated from land and the land must be kept free of the plant".
Description: A densely branched shrub, up to 3m high. Leaves are alternate, wedge-shaped and prominently toothed. Stems have a characteristic striped bark. Flowers are cream and white with hundreds of windborne seeds produced. A garden escapee native to North America.
Problem: Very invasive. Forms dense thickets. Prolific seeder. Has no feed value, reported as being toxic to stock in USA. No reports in Australia.
