Lagarosiphon

Lagarosiphon (Lagarosiphon major) is declared noxious in the Illawarra District Weeds Authority control area (including Kiama, Shellharbour and Wollongong council areas).

The weed control class 1. This means that:


“The plant must be eradicated from the land and the land must be kept free of the plant”.

Description: A submerged, rhizomatous, perennial, aquatic plant native to South Africa. Stems branched, up to 5 metres long, leaves alternate, linear, curving back onto themselves.

Problem: Potentially a serious weed of deep water storages and MUST NOT be grown

Control: Extremely difficult, usually mechanical.
